Erin Morgenstern’s ‘The Night Circus’ is a magical novel. It deals with themes of family and love by incorporating the elements of magic and fantasy. The story simply revolves around two people who are bound together to compete in a challenge where victory is achieved when either one of them dies.

'The Night Circus' is not a plot-driven book- the beauty of this book is in its world and the setting, and the characters. The title of the book comes from the setting of the challenge- An elaborate circus, with various tents and entertainment which has never been witnessed by anyone ever before, that only opens at night. The writer has provided with each and every detail which makes the reader feel as if they are actually visiting the circus- the reader can easily visualise the gorgeous clock at the very front of the circus, the black and white striped tents, the smell of the caramel apples and other snacks mentioned in the book, the cold Celia feels while walking through the ice garden can be felt by the readers, the sounds of the circus can also be heard- overall, the setting engrosses the reader and pulls them into this fantastical world.

The true brilliance of Morgenstern’s writing is the characters- crafted with excellence and well-rounded- they all play a vital role in the plot and become the driving force of the novel. These characters have magical powers and talents that they may easily seem above all but they are so grounded and human who feel emotions, make mistakes and are flawed.

Although the romance in the novel is overshadowed by the circus and everyone that is involved in the circus, the few romantic moments portrayed in the novel tugs on the heartstrings. ♥️

The only drawback about a character-driven novel is that the plot progresses in a slow manner. But even this can be disregarded because the book is simply not a book, it's an experience.

🧡I would highly recommend this book to anyone. 'The Night Circus' is a brilliant novel that entirely captivates the reader and leaves them feeling so warm and wonderful. I will rave about this book forever- this is easily in my top 5 of my all-time favourite novels. 🧡
